Using The Design Studio™ From Hunter Douglas

Design Studio™ Roman Shades & Drapery Panels

At Windows, Walls & More here in West Bloomfield, we know that many of our customers are nervous about coordinating colors and trying to figure out the best interior designs for their homes. That’s why we’re happy to help—and we’re even happier to offer the Design Studio guidance from Hunter Douglas. Using it is easy. Read on to learn more!

1. Base Layer. Select what will go directly against the window, whether that’s a blind, shade, or shutter. You can choose from options such as Designer Banded Shades, Designer Roller Shades, NewStyle® Hybrid Shutters, Provenance® Woven Wood Shades, and more. This layer will control light and add energy efficiency at the window; choose solid or textured, neutral or colored materials.

2. Customized Second Layer. The fabrics here will add drama, depth, and style. Choose from the core Design Studio line or from the featured artist collection (currently selections from textile designer Rebecca Atwood). You’re looking to coordinate or complement what you already chose.

3. Side Panels or Drapery. Side panels frame the window to add dimension and beauty. Drapery can fully cover the window to provide additional privacy and light control.

Suggestions From Hunter Douglas

The experts at Hunter Douglas can guide you even more, with suggestions for coordinating with tone-on-tone looks for neutrals, colors, or textures. They also suggest contrasts with color or patterns, to bring out an accent color in the room, to highlight a color from a pattern on your undertreatment, or to add a color that you simply love. If you’re unsure of how to choose coordinating or complementary fabrics, look at the “folios” of fabrics that will work well together. Choose from lists such as “gray infinity,” “harvest comfort,” or “seaside retreat,” all of which have beautifully complementary colors and looks. For additional help, you can find recommended pairings in the Design Studio—you’ll get some great ideas of things that will match well together.
