Picking a Focal Point
What’s the Focal Point of Your Room?
Color draws the eye, so if you have color on your walls or windows, that will be the focal point of the room. If you’re thinking of adding color to a room, you should consider how much you’re willing to add. If you want only a small amount and have a small window, perhaps it makes sense to keep the color to your window treatment. Or you might want to add color that’s more easily changed, such as paint on a wall.
Talk to one of the trained consultants at Windows, Walls & More here in Bloomfield Hills. We’ll be happy to help you sort it out.
Color and Light
Light impacts paint and colored window treatments differently at different times of day. In the early morning, the light feels warm. At noon, the light coming through the window will be cool. In the early evening, the light will feel warm again as the sun sets. At night, we turn on artificial lighting, which, given all the different types of bulbs there are today, can add to the problem of knowing where to put color and what color to use. So that you can see the impact of the light on the color you choose, live with a sample of that color (a yard of fabric or a paint swatch) for at least 48 hours before you make a commitment to use it on your walls or windows. That might save you from making costly mistakes.
Deciding on Color in a Room
Every room needs character, and color will do just that—especially if it is dark, unusual, and different! Color makes a statement. Just be sure to consider where you want your focal point to be, where and how the light will hit that color. If you need additional help, be sure to consult with one of our trained professionals.
