We may not realize it, but color has a powerful impact on the world around us. From setting a tone to changing a mood, color affects our environment and our emotions. That’s why, each year, the Pantone Color Institute names a “Color of the Year” that informs how the upcoming year will go, based on past trends. At Windows, Walls & More serving West Bloomfield, we love how much color can affect a home, and we want to help our customers enjoy the right colors in their spaces. Check out this year’s selected color, and be sure to contact us for more info on how you can bring this color to your room.

Color 2023

This year’s color is Viva Magenta, which “vibrates with vim and vigor.” It’s a “nuanced crimson tone” that balances warm and cool. To determine this color, the Pantone Color Institute gauges color trends, weighs the current climate, past behaviors, and past trends to determine what they expect the upcoming year to hold. Pantone notes that this year’s color is “an unconventional shade for an unconventional time,” adding that it is “an animated red that encourages experimentation and self-expression without restraint; an electrifying, boundaryless shade.” Leatrice Eiseman, the executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, notes that we are in an age of technology, so “we look to draw inspiration from nature.” Viva Magenta, she says, is “rooted in the primordial” and “reconnects us to original matter…It galvanizes our spirit, helping us to build our inner strength.”

Where to Find Viva Magenta

Because Pantone selects a color that reflects trends across numerous industries—including fashion, beauty, technology, design, and home décor—you’ll soon be seeing Viva Magenta in even some surprising areas. In fact, Pantone has already put together numerous collaborations using the color: Motorola phones, Spoonflower designs, CARIUMA shoes, Deepa Gurnani jewelry, and more.
