Meet the Color of the Year for 2022
If you’re like many Windows, Walls & More customers here in West Bloomfield, you might find color a little daunting. That’s why it’s great that experts like the people at the Pantone Color Institute are there to help determine trends in color. Each year, they select a trending Color of the Year, which influences numerous industries and how we see color throughout the year. And each year, you might find something new to fall in love with. Check out some info about this year’s color below!
The Importance of Color
Color enhances our mood, and even more, it often also reflects it. Color trends come from where we are, where we want to go, and how people are feeling or not feeling. “The Pantone Color of the Year has come to mean so much more than ‘what’s trending’ in the world of design; it’s truly a reflection of what’s needed in our world today,” Pressman also noted. This year, Pantone designed a new color, Very Peri, a red violet-infused blue hue that “brings a novel perspective and vision” and “places the future ahead in a new light.”
Bringing Very Peri to Your Home
Before you know it, you’ll find this color everywhere, in anything from décor to kitchenware to clothing. If it speaks to you, Very Peri can transform your home in a regal and boundless way in a variety of materials and prints. Add a lot of color for a dramatic look or a little color to simply brighten up your room. For example:
- Go Bold with wallpaper or paint on the walls and ceilings
- Add Dimension with window treatments, furniture, bedding, and flooring
- Add Accent Color with throw pillows, area rugs, lamps, artwork, and vases
Remember that the Hunter Douglas Design Studio™ has numerous fabrics and selections that can carry or complement the color—and many can be bought by the yard for coordinating accessories.
History of the Color of the Year
For over two decades, Pantone has named a color of the year. In 1963, the company created the Pantone Matching System, a proprietary system used in a variety of industries—such as printing, graphic design, fashion design, and home décor—to manage colors.
