Stuck at home with some extra time on your hands? Perhaps it’s a good time to do some deep cleaning. At Windows, Walls & More serving West Bloomfield, we’ve got some ideas for areas you could clean this spring. Read on!
Additional Areas to Disinfect
You’re probably a pro at cleaning the surfaces of your home, as well as the high-touch areas like door handles. Consider adding a few more things to that list, such as cutting boards, which should be frequently disinfected. And don’t forget light switches and TV remotes—both of which are touched by many hands quite often.
Things to Add to Your Upkeep Schedule
If it’s been a while since you last changed the batteries in your smoke or carbon monoxide detectors, take the time to do it now. Change any filters you have—for example, in your furnace or your humidifier. Clean out the gutters and be sure that they’re flowing well. Spend some time with your dryer vent and clear it of dust and lint.
Give Your Windows Some Love
Is your glass grimy? Time to clean it! Get to the interior and exterior (if you can) of your windows, clean the screens, and take some time to wipe the sills. And take the time to do some maintenance on your window treatments. Dust blinds and shades with a clean cloth, and vacuum treatments like Silhouette® using the brush attachment. If you have cellular shades such as Duette® Honeycomb Shades, use compressed air to free them of dust. If you have aluminum or faux wood blinds such as Everwood® Alternative Wood Blinds or Modern Precious Metals® Aluminum Blinds, you can remove them and clean them with lukewarm water in a bathtub or sink. While the treatment is still damp, reinstall it, letting it be fully lowered to dry.
