To Begin Finding a Interior Design Consultant
Working with a design consultant might be intimidating, but always remember that they want to help you get the results you desire and have resources that may not be available you. Also remember that designers are not mind-readers. Before you begin your journey, write a list of everything you want to accomplish in each room. Identify how you use each room and what you like and dislike about the space. When you meet with the designer for the first time, start by sharing what you love about your room. Also tell the designer what you hate about the room. This can include how the room makes you feel, as well as the actual functionality, or lack thereof, in that room. Another important factor is how you use the space—for example, let the designer know if you use your living room daily or if it is only for formal events. The more information you share with your designer, the better your overall experience will be. And always keep in mind that your personal taste matters—the designer is commissioned to achieve your design goals.

Do you like cool neutrals in your room with just a touch of color? Or do you want your house full of color? Be sure to share with the designer the colors you like and dislike and provide samples of the colors you love. You can use anything from a favorite vase or pillow to a dish you loved as a child. Inspiration can come from anything.
