Doors With Windows

Palm Beach™ Polysatin™ Shutters

Some doors have windows beside or above them, some have windows in them, and some are large windows themselves. No matter the window, there’s likely a window treatment need—in large part to help manage temperatures and UV rays. At Windows, Walls & More here in West Bloomfield, we carry the full line of Hunter Douglas window treatment products and can certainly help you find the right treatment for your door with a window.

For Your Front Door

Side windows tend to be tall and narrow, and they could use treatments to help with light and privacy control. Great options include cellular shades, blinds, shutters, and vertical sheers such as Luminette® Privacy Sheers. Arches above doors can seem challenging because of their semicircle shape. A good choice is a cellular shade with the Hunter Douglas EasyView® Arch, which can raise and lower instead of being stationary. Windows inside the door might require extra insulation at the glass, so a good choice is an option such as Duette® Honeycomb Shades.

For Your Sliding Glass Door

Sliders are a large expanse of glass, so a vertically oriented treatment could be the best solution. So that it stacks on the opposite side of the main opening, be sure the treatment will open in the same direction as the slider. Hunter Douglas offers Skyline® Gliding Window Panels, which present a contemporary look and come in numerous fabrics and color options. You can also consider Duette® Honeycomb Shades with the vertically oriented Vertiglide™ operating system. If your sliding glass door gets a lot of traffic, consider using shutters, which are extremely durable.

For Your French Doors

Keep in mind that window treatments for French doors usually need extension brackets or spacer blocks as well as potentially a cutout for the door handle. The NewStyle® Hybrid Shutter addresses those considerations; it’s available with cutouts and a dovetail construction. Palm Beach™ Polysatin™ Shutters are made of faux wood, which is resistant to warping, cracking, fading, chipping, peeling, and discoloration, no matter the level of heat or moisture at the window, so if the door gets a lot of heat and sun, your treatment will last. If you prefer soft treatments, consider Vignette® Modern Roman Shades, which can lie flat behind the door handles, or roller shades, which lie flush against the glass.
