Bring a Feel of the Sea to Your Home

2019 Color of the Year

Each year, the Pantone Color Institute (a business unit within Pantone) identifies a color that they feel will trend through the course of the year. It can influence anything from home décor to fashion and even makeup trends, so everyone is sure to see the color all over the place. This year’s selected color is 16-1546 PANTONE Living Coral, a hue destined to evoke the comforts of the living sea. If you’re interested in discovering how to add this (or any other color) to your home, speak with a Windows, Walls & More representative serving West Bloomfield. We’ll be happy to offer some suggestions.

Meet Living Coral

This year’s color demonstrates our collective need to find authentic experiences that include social interaction—not just relationships through a social media app. Optimistic and joyful, it evokes powerful feelings and is “evocative of how coral reefs provide shelter to a diverse kaleidoscope of color.” With a golden undertone that energizes and enlivens, Living Coral encourages lighthearted activity and gives us warmth and peacefulness as well as relief in a continually shifting environment. “Color is an equalizing lens through which we experience our natural and digital realities,” noted Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. “With consumers craving human interaction and social connection, the humanizing and heartening qualities displayed by the convivial PANTONE Living Coral hit a responsive chord.

Using Living Coral at Home

As with any color, the possibilities for Living Coral are endless. Combine it with hints of complementary colors, such as aqua or seafoam, to create a full-on ocean theme, or use it alone to create a tranquil retreat. You can put it on your walls, window coverings, custom bedding, accent pieces, or even kitchen gadgets and appliances. If you choose to use complementary colors, find throw pillows, a vase, or artwork that highlights them while you give Living Coral the stage.
