2016 Forecasted Colors

2015 Colors of the yearAt Windows, Walls & More in Bloomfield Hills, we make it a practice to be on top of trends. Which is why we’re excited to announce that, this year, for the first time ever, not one but TWO colors have been forecasted to be Colors of the Year.

The Two Colors: Rose Quartz and Serenity

This year, Rose Quartz and Serenity will be making a calm and peaceful entrance. Everywhere we look and across all facets of interior home design, these two colors will replicate how we want to feel in the next two years.

How the Color of the Year Is Chosen

Have you ever heard of the Color Marketing Group? Made of color/trend forecasters and home décor and fashion designers, this group meets twice a year to decide what the colors will be for the next two years. Before they meet, they study and work to understand past trends so they can forecast future ones.

The Reason for Forecasted Colors

Duette® Honeycomb Shades
Duette® Honeycomb Shades

Any industry that produces a product for fashion, home furnishings, hospitality, and automotive follow forecasted trends. Each year, the products you see on the shelves are influenced by the colors that were chosen—although they might have been adjusted for an industry’s area and products. For example, in warmer climates, colors might be designed as lighter, and in cooler climates, colors might be taken a bit darker than the actual forecasted color.

Pantone® Matching System

Pantone created the universally accepted system for determining that colors are an exact match. Using the Pantone Matching System, industries create their wares. Here are the Pantone color numbers for this year’s colors:

  • Rose Quartz—Pantone color 13-1520
  • Serenity—Pantone color 15-3919

Using Trending Colors

Even though Rose Quartz and Serenity will lead the way this year, don’t despair if you find you don’t like them. Just wait a year, and new ones will be out. Reember that the forecasted colors are trends—in time, they’ll pass!
